Johnston III, who was driving a city-owned vehicle, of negligently causing the collision at a downtown intersection. She also claimed the City of New Haven was responsible as Johnston’s employer. After a full trial, the jury rejected her claims and awarded no damages, ending the case in favor of the defense.

A Connecticut jury sided with Donald Tutson Jr. after a rear‑end collision on Route 6, finding that Ellen Benz’s distracted driving caused damage to his Saab.
