$18.7 Million Verdict Secured for Pedestrian Injured by Drunk Driver in Texas

In a powerful statement on accountability and justice, a Tarrant County jury awarded $18.7 million to Bryan Williams, a 22-year-old pedestrian who suffered life-altering injuries after being hit by a drunk driver. The verdict was handed down in the 96th District Court before Judge Patrick Gallagher on March 29, 2025.
The case was led by attorneys Jibraeel Zaidi and Rabia Said of Witherite Law Group, who presented a meticulously crafted case against a 19-year-old intoxicated driver who struck Bryan as he walked home from an evening out in Fort Worth.
The Crash and Cover-Up
On the night of the incident, the defendant lost control of his pickup truck after leaving Whiskey Garden, a popular local bar. He plowed into Bryan and then crashed into a light pole. Rather than call for help, he attempted to cover up the event—misleading police about his whereabouts and alcohol consumption. His blood alcohol content was later confirmed to be 0.15, nearly twice the legal limit.
